《Seeing Through Emotions》
Artist's Book, Handmade, 15 × 15cm, 2020-2024
Seeing Through Emotions features dog portraits and close-ups from my two years as a volunteer at an animal shelter. By capturing emotions, it seeks to blur the line between humans and dogs, showcasing a profound sense of cross-species empathy.
Between 2018 and 2020, I made regular visits to an animal shelter in Taiwan. Initially, I began as a volunteer armed with a camera, but over time, my role evolved. When inside the shelter, I turned out to be neither a photographer nor a human; I became one with the dogs who had once strayed on the streets. I grew to comprehend their pain, fear, and loneliness, as though I had seen through their hearts. It was these genuine emotions that compelled me to keep returning to the animal shelter, forging an inseparable bond between us.
